Special Items
Special items are things that can be used to solve puzzles. Generally these items do not need rolls to use, but in some cases they may. The list here are made up of a few suggestions, but the list is not exhaustive. Depending on what your game master decides to do for puzzles will determine the kind of items you will need. Who knows? maybe your game master will come up with items not listed here! Special items are not intended to be used for combat much. Their ability to deal damage to enemies will be limited. They might however be useful in making more cunning attacks.
If a special item is used in combat, it takes the place of an attack turn and requires a courage roll.
Special Items:
Hookshot- can be used by non-flying people to get to hard to reach places.
Power bracelet- moves objects too heavy to lift on one’s own.
Pegasus boots- allows player to move 2 extra squares when sprinting. Also can be used to slam into trees or other things to uncover secrets
Shrinking cap- allows for 1 extra points on stealth rolls, also helps characters with puzzles requiring the player to be small. However you cannot fight enemies at this size.
Ocarina-used to play music that triggers events determined by the game master in specific locations. Can be used to charm NPCs and confuse monsters, adding +1 on wisdom rolls.
Magnet gloves- can be used to attract or repulse metal objects
Bombs- can be used to break open walls or rocks. Can also be used offensively for 1 heart damage to enemies (no blocking or armor defense), and can be thrown within a squares range. Can also be attached to arrows to create bomb arrows, for 1 heart damage each.
Gust jar- can be used to create small gusts of air. Can be used against enemies for a wind effect.
Lens of truth- enables seeing invisible things.
Cane of somola- can create blocks.
Cane of pacci- turns things upside down.
Magic mirror- can be used to reflect light or magic spells. Can only reflect magic if the enemy’s roll is under 5, reflection will reverse the effect of the enemy’s attack at half the rate.
Magic powder- will influence various things for puzzle solving in random ways (up to GM). Can be used to turn smaller enemies into chuchus (one dice, must roll a 5 or higher).
Torch/lantern- enables players to see in the dark. Lights up 5 spaces/meters away.
Bug net- can be used to catch bugs or fairies.
Spinner- can be used to activate gear puzzles, or ride rails.
Mask of truth- can be used to talk to gossip stones.
Sand wand- can be used to make pillars of sand
Water wand- can be used to make pillars of ice from water
Shovel/Mole Mits- can be used to dig holes, find treasure, or set up traps. Tp set up a trap, roll wisdom dice, and whatever is rolled enemies will have to beat in order to avoid the trap.
