A Legend of Zelda RPG
Pets
Pets are helpful companions in a fight. They act as “mini-characters” and have their own character sheet, or “pet card”. There are many creatures in Zelda that can be made into pets. Some monsters can be tamed into being pets as well. To play a pet while in combat, all player characters must take their turns first. After all the players have gone, a second round of turns for those with pets are taken as well. To command a pet, you must first perform a wisdom role against the pet’s wisdom state to give it a command. If the role is successful, the pet can perform an attack. If not, the pet can still move about but will not obey commands of the player’s character. Pets can also upgrade alongside the players. They will earn their own spirit points after battles with bosses and dungeons. once 4 spirit points are earned they can upgrade their action points. They can also upgrade either their shield, damage, or armor points by +2. Their health and stamina however do not upgrade, so take care. This applies to monsters as well if they are made pets. For flying pets, no energy is lost when the fly. Pets can either be purchased or found in the wild. If they are found in the wild, you will need to tame them. To tame an animal roll wisdom against the animal’s wisdom. To tame monsters, players must do a wisdom roll against the monster’s highest action dice. Monsters cannot be purchased and must be tamed in the wild. All pets can sneak, though only a few can perform a sneak attack for extra damage.
Here is a list of some creatures that can be used as pets in Temples and Tektites. Monster pet stats are in the monsters and enemies’ section.
