Once you have chosen your weapon type, and have written down your armor (see classes section), shield, and weapon stats, it is time to determine your action dice rolls. You will get 4 action points to be spent on your courage, wisdom, and power dice rolls. You will also get 30 arrows if you are using a bow, and 20 rupees to start out with. You may also decide to pick some traits as well. You will start out with 3 hearts, or 12 hp, and 8 energy points. After this you may choose to select one Item or Skill for either Magic, Combat Skills, or Specialties.  After that everything else you may wish to use (special items, extra inventory items, specialties, combat skills, and magic) will all be gained over your character's quests in the game. While playing the game you may upgrade certain aspects of your character, either through gurus, buying new weapons and armor (or finding it), meeting fairies, or various other ways. Beating dungeons and bosses will also give you spirit points. You will need four spirit points to upgrade your health or energy, or you can spend them to gain another action point to spend on your courage, wisdom, and power rolls. And don’t forget, you can always upgrade your classes too (see classes section).
